Relatives visa’s permits – Relatives permits are issued to foreigner who have an “immediate family member” that is either a Permanent Resident or a South African citizen residing in the Republic. Immediate family relates to parents, siblings, children or a relation through marriage.
A Relatives permit can be applied for under temporary and permanent residence categories. Applications can only be undertaken with immediate family, such definition meaning second step of kinship. Please note that if issued, a relative’s permit, this permit does not allow the holder to work nor set up a business in the Republic.
If you intend staying for more than 6 months, we advise that you look at applying for temporary residence, in order to continue legally residing in South Africa, as permanent residence applications are currently taking up to 24 months to be finalised.
