The South African Consulate in the UK falls under the auspices of the South African High Commission, London, however, they represent the Department of Home Affairs in respect of all functional matters.

The South African Consulate essentially deals with two types of applicants:
- South African citizens living in the UK who require services such as application for identity documents, passports, registration of births, copies of marriage, birth and death certificates.
- Foreign nationals who want to visit South Africa either temporary or permanently.
What are the opening hours of the South African UK Consulate?
Opening hours are:
- The opening hours for submission of applications are: Mondays to Fridays from 08h45 to 12h45.
- The office re-opens between 15h00-16h00(Mondays to Fridays) for the collection of temporary passports, emergency passports and passports.
Please be aware that NO walk–in applications will be accepted. Applications for the following services will be received by appointment ONLY:
- Passports.
- Birth registrations.
- Retention of SA citizenship.
- Exemption from loss of SA citizenship.
- All clients will be requested to leave their surname, forenames, date of birth, mobile number, e-mail address, suggested date of appointment and type of designated service requested. We will confirm appointments and respond by either e-mail or return call/text message within 24 hours (excluding weekends and public holidays) of the request for an appointment.
Applications for other services not cited above can be made by mail ONLY. Appointments will have to be made 7 working days before a person’s visit to the office.
